Eye to the Soul of the Heart/Oko do duše srdca 2024

Z histórie kultúr poznáme všadeprítomné Božie oko Prozreteľnosti, ktoré bolo ikonograficky zobrazované v trojuholníku symbolizujúc tak Svätú trojicu. Fatimine oko alebo Máriino oko, ktoré rukou ochraňuje svojho majiteľa alebo modré oko proroka v podobe amuletu prináša majiteľovi šťastie. Predchodcom týchto zobrazení oka bolo v starovekom Egypte modré Horovo s podobnou funkciou.

Odhliadnuc od ezoteriky a povier, oko je oknom do duše človeka ako povedal Shakespeare, zrkadlom ľudskej duše, keď človek nemusí prehovoriť a jeho oči mnohé prezradia. Oči vyjadrujú stav mysle a emócií, sú najdôležitejším zmyslom, pomocou ktorého z okolitého sveta dostávame 80 % vnemov a informácií. Očná dúhovka v makro fotografii pripomína zmenšený vesmír a je možné z nej identifikovať choroby.

Oči v tomto súbore patria mojim blízkym a poukazujú na rozmanitosť a krásu tohto ľudského vesmíru. Sú realizované za pomoci fotografickej emulzie, vyvolané klasickým analógovým spôsobom na grafickom papieri (20x20cm a 50X50cm) alebo na kruhoch z preglejky (s priemerom od 5-50cm), z ktorých je vytvorená inštalácia.

Názov Oko do duše srdca pochádza z rozprávky Tri sestry Jana Wericha z knihy Fimfárum, kde odznela ako parafráza na známy výrok Oko je zrkadlom alebo oknom do duše.

/Throughout the history of cultures, we know the omnipresent Eye of Providence, which was iconographically depicted within a triangle, symbolizing the Holy Trinity. Whether it is the Eye of Fatima or the Eye of Mary, which protects its owner with a hand, or the blue eye of the prophet in the form of an amulet, they all bring good luck to the bearer. The predecessor of these depictions was the blue Eye of Horus in ancient Egypt, serving a similar function.

Aside from esotericism and superstitions, the eye is a "window to the soul," as Shakespeare said—a mirror of the human soul, where one does not need to speak, yet the eyes reveal much. Eyes express a state of mind and emotions; they are our most important sense, through which we receive 80% of all perceptions and information from the world around us. In macro photography, the iris resembles a miniature universe, and it is even possible to diagnose physical ailments through it.

The eyes in this collection belong to my loved ones and highlight the diversity and beauty of this human universe. They are created using photographic emulsion, developed through a classic analog method on graphic paper (20x20 cm and 50x50 cm) or on plywood circles (ranging from 5 to 50 cm in diameter), which form the installation.

The title Eye to the Soul of the Heart (Oko do duše srdca) comes from Jan Werich's fairy tale The Three Sisters from his book Fimfárum, where it appeared as a paraphrase of the famous saying: "The eye is the mirror or the window to the soul."
